Research in Artificial Intelligence has allowed Mobile Intelligence to apply case-based reasoning and case-based design techniques to simplify complex user interfaces in three current projects. CBR experience-based learning is especially well suited for domains which lack reasonable evaluation functions, where it is usually quicker to modify a past solution to fit the new requirements than to build a new solution. Our case-based reasoning systems build a corporate memory of solutions other operators have found useful and then presents relevant suggestions to users attempting to solve similar problems. The CBR subsystem interactively assists the user in tailoring the suggested solution to fit their particular circumstances and, if it is sufficiently novel, adds the new solution to the case-base. Mobile Intelligence has worked to build a reusable CBR subsystem which can be applied to many situations and projects.
